Kolahon interview

1. What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Kawinwarong Ingadhamrong, professionally known as Kolahon, a Bangkok-based artist with a background in architecture from KMITL.

2. What's your backstory? How did you end up pursuing a career in art, and how has your life journey influenced your artistic style?
I used to create realistic architectural scenes and landscapes before transitioning to line art for character design. Studying architecture and pursuing perfection as a career had such a powerful effect on me that I eventually experienced burnout. This led me to shift my focus towards drawing more about people, animals, and objects with organic shapes rather than straight lines.
The main influence on my style comes from manga (Japanese comic books), which I've been reading since childhood. I was mostly influenced by series like Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, and Eyeshield 21.
I also wanted to share that "Kolahon" means chaos in Thai. I came across this word in a book called "Future," which tells a story about how to navigate globalization and the world's chaotic waves. The quote that changed the way I view the world is, "Try to reinvent yourself in the chaotic world." This quote has made everything clearer for me and has made me aware of how to embrace change, seeing it as something that can be enjoyed."
But now, my style changes every day. I always prioritize keeping my black and white line work as the main focus, and then I combine it with all the elements and experiences I gather. For instance, when I travel to Europe, my pieces are inspired by abstract elements from artists like Picasso and Joan Miró. Then, when I visit Japan, I incorporate the details of Japanese minimalism into my work. And during my treks in the Himalayan region, I draw inspiration from unique Tibetan compositions. So, my main vision for now is that everything, everywhere, all is art

3. When you're not creating art, what are some of your favorite things to do or hobbies?
Photography, hiking, and scuba diving

4. Who are some artists that inspire you and your work?
Kim jung gi, Jamesjean, Murakami

5. Is there anything about your life story that you hope viewers will grasp when they
experience your art?
My Work’s mostly influenced by my personal relationships; they always have something to convey. When I have an argument with my partner, I channel that emotion into my paintings.
When we create beautiful memories together, I continue drawing. And even when our relationship came to an end, I kept on drawing. So, my last relationship taught me a lot about life—how to find balance and keep moving forward with a passionate desire, especially in navigating my first positive relationship.
However, it's important to note that all the female characters are not fixed as her. My preference for drawing women also ties into my own emotional fragility. As a man, I find it challenging to openly express my emotions in a social.
