1. What is your name and where are you from?
My name is Patcharapon Singhapracha aka. BOUBOY.
Bangkok based Illustrator and painter from Thailand.
2. What's your backstory? How did you end up pursuing a career in art, and how has your life journey influenced your artistic style?
After graduating with a bachelor's degree in fine art, specializing in printmaking and etching techniques, I've pursued a career that seamlessly blends my passion for art with my entrepreneurial spirit.
Beyond creating art, I also manage a small bar in Bangkok. This dual role has given me a unique perspective on the human experience, allowing me to connect with people from all walks of life and gain insights into their joys, struggles, and aspirations. These interactions often spark new ideas and perspectives that enrich my artistic expression. My art is not just about creating beautiful pieces; it's about understanding the world around me and connecting with others on a deeper level.
3. Who are some artists that inspire you and your work?
David Hockney and Philip Guston.
4. How do you balance your personal life with your art? Any tips for fellow artists?
Approach your art with the same dedication and professionalism as any other career. Arrive at your
art studio with the same instinctive regularity as a sunrise. Set clear stop measurements, not as limitations but as guideposts for your artistic journey. Practice regularly, not as a chore but as an opportunity to deepen your connection with your art.
5. Are there any personal goals or dreams you're working toward, either in your art or in life in general?
Of course recognition and fame are often perceived as the ultimate goals for artists and I also want that, but I believe the ability to evoke emotions and provoke thought through my art is what drives me. I want people to look at my work and feel something, whether it's joy, sadness, anger, or simply a sense of curiosity.
In essence, my art is a tool for social commentary and personal exploration. It's a way for me to connect with others, share my thoughts and feelings, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue about society and our place within it.
